Linda “Peaches” Tavani

Grammy Award Nominee, Singer & Songwriter

We are honored to have special guest Linda “Peaches” Tavani perform her Grammy nominated song, “Shake Your Grove Thing” live at our Women In Power Brunch & Panel 2019.

The story of Linda ‘Peaches’ Tavani (formerly Linda Greene) begins with a young girl singing into a pink hairbrush to her stuffed animals, in a rural Maryland bedroom. She is dreaming that the hairbrush would someday transform into a microphone, the bedroom would become the most glamorous auditoriums in the world, and the stuffed animals would become millions of cheering fans. Her dreams would eventually manifest into something far more than her imagination could create.

As a young child, Linda was artistically influenced by the likes of Lenard Bernstein, Josephine Baker, and Diana Ross. Her participation in the ‘March on Washington,’ where she witnessed Martin Luther King, Jr.’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech, would also have a profound influence on her life.

Linda’s musical journey began when she left home as a young adult, became roommates with soul singer Natalie Cole, and began singing with a band in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Soon after her move to Virginia Beach, Linda was invited to perform as ‘Peaches’ in the duo Peaches & Herb.

Peaches & Herb Success

As ‘Peaches’ of Peaches & Herb, Linda experienced unparalleled success. She recorded seven albums with Herb (including one album released only in Argentina), toured the world, performed on the biggest stages, graced many magazine covers; such as Harper’s BAZAAR, appeared on TV shows, like Soul Train and American Bandstand, and made music history as the first African-American woman to perform in Mainland China. Their single “Reunited” was a huge crossover hit—topping both the Pop and Soul charts, and spending four weeks at number one on both the R&B Singles and the Billboard Hot 100 Singles charts. “Reunited” was also nominated for a GRAMMY for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo. As a dynamic duo, Peaches & Herb sold over 9 million albums. Their hits are still playing on radio stations around the world and continue to be featured in movies, TV shows, and commercials.
